Move passengers through, keep control at every checkpoint.
From the pre-security queue to the airbridge, an airport is a chain of identity checks. The Magnetic Momentum platform automates that chain — one family of passenger eGates that verifies travellers and controls flow at every stage, without staffing every lane.
A brand of FAAC Technologies
Every checkpoint is a queue waiting to happen
A passenger is checked over and over between kerb and aircraft — at pre-security, at the border, at the lounge, at the gate. Every one of those checks is a place where people bunch up, where a manned desk sets the pace, and where the wrong person getting through is a reportable event rather than an inconvenience.
The answer is not more desks. It is gates that verify a passenger automatically and only release a confirmed one — fast enough to clear the queue, controlled enough to satisfy the audit, and consistent enough that a terminal can run the same gate at every checkpoint.
That is what the Magnetic Momentum platform is built to do.
The Momentum platform
One platform, three gates for three jobs
Momentum is a single modular gate range configured for the three points on the passenger journey that most need automating. Same chassis, same drive, same control system — different role.

Pre-security
mPass
The first gate a passenger meets. mPass verifies a boarding pass or a biometric token before the security check, moving self-checking travellers through without a manned desk. Built for medium-security, high-throughput pre-security lanes.

Automated border control
mBorder
The ABC gate for the border itself. mBorder verifies identity against a travel document and adds Magnetic's patented Single Door Exit (SDE) so only one confirmed passenger leaves per authorisation. Available in high- and medium-security configurations.

Boarding
mGo
The gate at the aircraft. mGo confirms each passenger's identity at boarding — the last check before the airbridge — so the boarding gate is verified rather than just scanned. Medium-security, biometric-ready.
Why Momentum
Built for the way a terminal actually runs
- One modular platform, not three separate products
- mPass, mBorder and mGo share the same Momentum chassis, drive and control system. A terminal can standardise on one gate family across every checkpoint — with a common look, common spares and common training — instead of stitching together different barriers from different suppliers.
- A drive proven at airport scale
- The gates run on Magnetic's low-energy Magnetic Safety Drive System (MSDS) — the same barrier drive technology behind more than 200,000 installations worldwide, engineered to combine efficiency with occupant safety in continuous public-transport duty.
- Serviceable in minutes, not shifts
- Drive units, control units and blocking elements are designed to be swapped rapidly, so a lane comes back into service quickly — which matters when every closed gate is a lengthening queue behind it.
- Reader- and biometric-agnostic
- Momentum is compatible with the common readers and digital architectures airports already run, and its biometric touchpoints are upgradeable — so face or document verification can be added or updated at each stage without replacing the gate.
- Expands lane by lane
- Configurations expand without a fixed limit: add lanes as passenger numbers grow, widen for accessibility, or extend a bank of gates during a terminal upgrade, all on the same platform.
- Finished to match the terminal
- Stainless steel or a range of colour finishes, modular gantries for overhead cameras and readers, and integrated displays for wayfinding or VIP lanes — the gate is specified to the architecture, not dropped into it.
Across the whole journey
One gate family, every touchpoint
Because the platform is common across checkpoints, an airport can automate the entire passenger path with one system — and add or upgrade biometric verification at any stage without changing the gate underneath it.
Momentum is the airport-specific line of the same pedestrian access control we specify for other secure sites — matched here to the flow, security levels and audit that an airport demands.
- Pre-security checks
- Self-verifying entry to the security queue.
- Automated border control
- ABC eGates with Single Door Exit at the frontier.
- Lounge access
- Controlled, unstaffed entry to airside lounges.
- Boarding verification
- Identity confirmed at the gate before the aircraft.
