The entrance is the last point you can still decide.
Branch security thinking concentrates on the counter. But almost every scenario a branch plans for begins with someone walking through the door.

Most of what protects a branch is reactive: the screen, the alarm, the time-delay safe, the footage reviewed afterwards. All of it is downstream of an entrance that has already let someone in. The door is the one control point where the outcome is still open.
That's also where the specification tends to go soft. "Security door" is an adjective, not a rating. Certified products carry classes — bulletproof glazing under EN 1063, anti-burglary glazing under EN 356, burglar resistance under the RC classes — and those numbers are the only honest basis for comparing one product against another. We quote the class, and we'll tell you when a rating is higher than the risk warrants.
Behind the public area, cash handling is a different problem again. What you want there is an interlock: two doors that can never be open at once, with the space between them under control. That's a mechanism, not a policy, which is why it holds when the branch is busy and nobody is watching.
The staff boundary matters for the same reason. A door that relies on people not holding it open for a colleague isn't a boundary — it's a convention.
What matters to you
- Certified resistance, stated as a class
- Glazing and doorsets quoted to their EN 1063, EN 356 or RC rating, so a specification can be compared and defended rather than taken on trust.
- Interlocked cash-handling entry
- Two-door interlocks for cash areas and secure rooms, where only one door can be open at a time and the transition is physically enforced.
- A staff boundary that holds
- Portals and speed gates on the staff-only line, so access depends on a credential rather than on nobody holding the door.
- Serviced without closing the branch
- Maintenance scheduled around trading hours, because a branch entrance out of action is a branch out of action.
